The LINK (Leading Internship in New Knowledge) Internship is a three week long internship that juniors at Animas High School complete for three weeks in the beginning of March. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us students to learn about a specific career, gain real life experience, learn business and professional skills, and to explore career goals. A student finds a mentor in a field of their interest or passion and interns with them, learning from their expertise, while at the same time contributing back to the business through their time and effort. We are also expected to complete individual projects about or related to our internships.
My LINK Internship
I interned at Buffalo Woman Ranch, which was a place for people to interact with horses through equine-experiential learning. This mainly serves as a way of personal growth and leadership skills in youth and adults. For three weeks, I lived in a yurt next to the ranch and learned about equine-experiential learning while taking care of a herd of eight amazing horses and being a part of a wonderful and close knit community of the people who worked at the Ranch. All in all, my internship was one of the best times of my life because of the loving people I was surrounded with and the personal growth that I went through.
